For Sale: Viking Yachts 55 Convertible

The boatbuilders at Viking Yacht Company in New Gretna, New Jersey, have crafted some of the world’s most advanced sport-fishing boats for more than 60 years.

Debuting in 1996, the Viking 55 Convertible became an instant classic as soon as it hit the water, with more than 150 built in its first five years of production. In 2013, Viking relaunched the 55 Convertible with an updated design, and it remained one of the company’s bestselling models.

At press time, 13 Viking 55 Convertibles were listed for sale, ranging from $399,000 to $2.6 million.

“Where this boat truly shines is when she’s pushing herself to the ragged edge of performance. During my wheel time, I took the twin ZF single-lever controls and flattened them to the pins. The optional 1,550 hp MAN 12-cylinder diesels quickly spooled up at 2,330 rpm as the 55 shot in the direction of those calling canyons. I checked the center 17-inch screen and noted the speed on the GPS: 42 knots!”
