CRN has launched the 230-foot Project Thunderball, a fully custom steel-and-aluminum superyacht that recently touched the water for the first time at the Ferretti Group Superyacht Yard in Ancona, Italy.

The launch marks a major milestone for the one-off yacht, which was developed through a collaboration between CRN, Dutch design studio Vripack Yacht Design and Italian design firm Nauta. Vripack handled the exterior styling, preliminary naval architecture and general arrangement, while Nauta was responsible for the interiors and outdoor living spaces.

Project Thunderball measures 230 feet overall with a 36-foot beam and approximately 1,100 gross tons of interior volume. Accommodations are arranged for 12 guests, including an owner’s suite and five VIP staterooms, along with quarters for 15 crew in nine cabins.

The yacht’s profile is defined by a long bow, clean lines and a low-slung silhouette inspired by sailing yachts. Curved surfaces and flowing transitions between interior and exterior spaces were intended to create visual continuity throughout the vessel.

Inside, the design draws on maritime influences while incorporating contemporary detailing and custom solutions tailored to the owner’s preferences. According to the builder, every aspect of the yacht—from materials and finishes to technical systems—was developed through a highly customized design process.

Project Thunderball also incorporates an onboard Energy Storage System designed to optimize power management. The system allows for peak shaving and silent operation at anchor, helping reduce fuel consumption and generator use during certain operating conditions. With the launch complete, CRN will continue interior outfitting, exterior finishing and sea trials before delivery, which is scheduled for summer 2026.
